Alice Leach Landis passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 24, 2018 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, Maryland. Alice Elizabeth Baker was born on December 6, 1937 to John Harmon Baker and Hilda (Jackson) Baker in Elmira, New York. Following the death of her parents at the age of three, she and her brother, Harry Leach (deceased), were adopted by Byron Wesley Leach and Virginia Browne Leach. Alice Leach Landis passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 24, 2018 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, Maryland. Alice Elizabeth Baker was born on December 6, 1937 to John Harmon Baker and Hilda (Jackson) Baker in Elmira, New York. Following the death of her parents at the age of three, she and her brother, Harry Leach (deceased), were adopted by Byron Wesley Leach and Virginia Browne Leach. Alice grew up in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Indiana State Teachers College and taught school in Pennsylvania. In 1961, she married the Rev. Richard Vincent Landis and had two daughters, Karen Virginia Landis and Elizabeth Ann Landis (deceased). Alice and her family moved to Annapolis, Maryland in 1972 when her husband became an assistant priest at St. Anne's Parish. Rev. Landis became rector of St Anne's in 1974. Alice taught first grade at Key School in Annapolis until 1987 when she and her husband retired. Richard passed away in 2007 and Alice moved to Sunrise of Severna Park where she enjoyed playing games, especially bridge and bingo. Alice is survived by her daughter, Karen Landis Thompson of Cornish, New Hampshire, her grandson, Joshua Baker Kaminsky of Baltimore, Maryland, her granddaughter, Sofia Landis Kaminsky of Columbia, Maryland, and her sister, Shirley Adele Leach Leapley of Punta Gorda, Florida. A memorial service will be held at St. Anne's Church, Church Circle, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Anne's Parish or the Hospice of the Chesapeake.
